Mothers - The "Forgotten" Breed
THE FOLLOWING IS AN UNCUT, UNEDITED, UNTALENTED ARTICLE FROM MY SECONDARY 2 DAYS.
Mothers - The "Forgotten" Breed
More than once have I heard elderly women saying that the younger generation of females have forgotten their roots. They say that these women are becoming too realistic, money-mided and cold. They no longer cared about the feelings of others and just because they want to put their careers first, they pay less attention to their families.
Elderly women are not the only ones who are against the idea of modern-day women putting their careers at the top of their agenda. Husbands of such “independent” women also feel the same way, or at least most of them do. They often have squabbles with their wives on her place in the family.
The men say that the women should quit their nine-to-five jobs and stay at home to be the loving wife and mother that they should be doing.
Women, on the other hand, complain that the guys are being old-fashioned in their thinking. They believe that the corporate girl of today should be able to stand on their own two feet instead of having to depend on a chauvinistic, domineering male.
However, I do not think that the modern day woman has forgotten all about being a mother. They too, like their mothers before them, know how to be a good mother to their children.
Just on the bus the other day, I saw a mother with her child. The boy did not look any older than five while the mother did not seem to be much older than thirty years old.
The mother was talking to the boy in the same manner I would suspect his grandmother must have spoken to him. Not only that, she was displaying an assortment of toys to the boy. But he was not interested in any of the toys but seemed very excited seeing the trees, people, cars and other structures whiz by as the bus moved along the road.
When the bus suddenly stopped at a junction, the boy’s head was banged into the plastic seat in front of them. His mother began soothing his frayed nerves calmly and lovingly. Soon, the boy regained his composure and started pointing and laughing at the scenery again. It was as if he had forgotten about the knock he suffered.
Personally, I think that the women of today has not forgotten about being a mother. It is just that they do not want to show it to others without reason.
However, when they do have children of their own, some of these “fresh” mothers can be even better at handling babies than their own mothers.
